Whytemead Primary School joins Schoolsworks
Whytemead Primary School has joined Schoolsworks Academy Trust, after its conversion to an academy. The school, which is based in Worthing and supports 262 pupils and 33 staff, is the eighth addition our network of South Coast schools. Richard Waddington, who has been acting as Interim Headteacher at Whytemead since November 2020, has also been appointed as Headteacher on a permanent basis. Richard has been part of the Schoolsworks team for many years, most recently as Headteacher at Edward Bryant School in Bognor Regis.
After being approached by the local authority and the governing body of Whytemead we began providing leadership support to the school from last Autumn, after the retirement of the previous headteacher.
Since we began working with Whytemead, our focus has been on establishing strong catch-up and school improvement plans given that the majority of pupils have suffered long periods of home learning. Now that the school has completed its conversion to academy status we’re looking forward to working with the team at Whytemead to embed a strong teaching and learning culture, robust assessment and high expectations for pupils. Whytemead is a happy place, and we are delighted to welcome it into our family of schools.
