As part of our ongoing commitment to school improvement, we’re delighted to share details of our new team led by Zoe McGuigan. Three of our existing Heads will also be providing support across the Trust with new responsibilities for school improvement.

Ms McGuigan, who is Executive Head for Hertford Schools in Brighton and Hove, has a teaching career spanning 20 years, with over 15 years in leadership roles. She began her career in inner city London, before teaching in Uganda and then settling in Brighton and Hove to work in senior leadership roles at a local primary schools.

Three of our current Heads - Dave Ayers from River Beach School, Marie Smailes from Rustington Community Primary and Phillip Craig from Rose Green Juniors - will also be taking up school improvement responsibilities.

We are delighted that Zoe is joining our strong leadership team, and feel that her energy and enthusiasm will help bolster our focus on school development and progress. Zoe will be working across our schools to provide support, advice and guidance and her experience of driving positive change in education will be of great benefit to our staff and the outcomes of young people.

Zoe McGuigan has shared the following words about her new role: “I’m excited about joining Schoolsworks to focus on this important area. My passion for education, professional development and growing middle, senior and experienced leaders to support school improvement means that I share the aspirational vision of Schoolsworks, and see my role as supporting schools to facilitate rich learning experiences, based on excellence in school leadership and teaching and learning.  I’m looking forward to working closely with this well respected team”.
